Eating Out

Cooking using fresh wholesome and nutritious seasonal ingredients is a very rewarding and satisfying experience and something we should all be doing, but occasionally, in fact more than occasionally its great to have someone else do the cooking.

ibuyrealfood's eatingout is not a Michelin guide, its a celebration, a promotion and sharing of those unique eating places we have all found that source their produce from local organic, artisan and food and drink producers who use timeless traditional methods of production.

The result, you get delicious, wholesome, nutritious food and drink in great surroundings from people who have a passion for what they do.

Whether its a hotel, restaurant, pub or brasserie, wine bar, cafés, patisserie or tea room – if they will happily share the source of their local produce and who those producers are with the rest of us through the ibuyrealfood directory, then we will promote that establishment in ibuyrealfood's eatingout section – free of charge.

The Fox and Goose is located in the heart of the Waveney Valley in the village of Fressingfield on the Suffolk Norfolk border. This traditional Suffolk Inn dating back to the 16th century, was taken over by Paul Yaxley proprietor chef in 2002.

The Fox and Goose is split into a restaurant on the first floor which offers a relaxed fine dinning experience in traditional surroundings with an a la carte menu, offering an exciting selection of dishes using interesting flavour combinations.

The ground floor which has recently been transformed into a comfortable country pub, serves artisan ales tapped straight from the barrel in the bar area and a whole new simpler yet very tasty menu with some interesting specials for those who would prefer to eat in a more casual environment.

Paul trained at Norwich City College and soon realised his love of cooking. After working around a few Norfolk hotels and restaurants, he opened his first restaurant in Norfolk at 21 years old. Pauls comforting and adventurous food has developed from his interest in supporting good local producers.

It is his dedication to creating dishes from the best seasonal local produce available, most of which is sourced within a 6 mile radius of Fressingfield, and the support of his team that has contributed to his success in making the Fox and Goose one of the most exciting eating places in the region with a loyal following.
